Amidst the lofty peaks of Sri Lanka, where the heavens kiss the earth, lies a realm of enchantment—the Moon Plains. Here, nature dons her finest attire, inviting photographers to capture her secrets. The Moon Plains, also known as Sandathenna, is a captivating location situated approximately 6 kilometers from Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka.

The Moon Plains has both chilly and misty, the landscape unfolds before you, revealing green slopes that seem straight out of a masterful portrait. In this landscape wild animals roam freely here—deer, buffalos, a plethora of bird species and   Sri Lankan leopard also grace the scene. But it’s the panoramic view that steals the show. As you stand amidst the mist, the countryside and surrounding peaks stretch out in all directions.

The visibility varies with the day, but when the weather cooperates, it’s a sight to behold. And there, at the pinnacle, lies the ‘Mini World’s End’—a precipice that drops sharply, offering an awe-inspiring vista of the landscape below. The best time to visit is from February to April, and early mornings are ideal to capture the magic before the mist settles.

This is the best path to describe the Moon Plains in Sri Lanka through the lens of photography: Moon Plains is a Symphony of Mist and Green
